If one of your goals for this New Year of Newcomers is to enjoy the great outdoors and get some exercise, then Windham Newcomers & Friends has just the thing. Our Outdoors Club activities are loaded with action packed adventures that we hope will leave you feeling fit and refreshed.
This group goes walking and hiking several times a year, usually scheduled on week days. There are many scenic settings found in the local area that are well worth exploring with other hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.
We will enjoy weekly walks and bike rides on the Windham Rail Trail and other trails. Walking and hiking trails farther away are also considered for this group. Other fun activities include Skiing, Snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. Many, many great ways to meet other members while staying fit!
Sites include, Massabesic Lake, Stonehedge of America, Benson’s Nature Trails, Windham Forest Trail, Mt. Kearsarge and other local area parks for hiking, kayaking, or biking. Also, winter activities on Cobbetts Pond will be enjoyed such as walking with grippers, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and ice skating. We hope to go cross country skiing at Atkinson Country Club where ski rentals are available. Equipment can be borrowed or rented at a variety of our locations.
Please consider joining us for outdoor activity that suits your schedule and personal needs. Suggestions for additional outdoor activities and locations are very welcome. We hope you will join us!
